Doll House Painting Guide
Before you paint your dolls house read our doll
house painting guide to make sure you get everything right.
First of all if you are building a dolls house from
a kit it is much easier to paint the outside of your dolls house
before you put the house together. You should also cut grooves
in your house to run your electric wires for your lighting before
you paint and build your house (take a look at our lighting guide
for more information on this).
You should always use a matt, non-acrylic based
paint. Most matt paints you use on your own home and can get from
your local DIY store are fine to use for dolls houses. You can
also get specialist paints especially for your dolls house. These
specialist paints are designed to be very easy to use and to provide
a very good finish when used for dolls houses.
Once you have decided on the colours for your dolls
house you should apply the paint using a small sponge radiator
roller, which you can also get, from a DIY store. You dont
need a primer but you will probably need two coats of paint. Make
sure you dont put the paint on too thickly.
If you are painting your dolls house kit before
you put it together you may also want to paint the dollhouse ceilings
ready for decorating.
When doll house painting if I am using a smooth
matt paint I always use a small radiator roller to get a really
smooth finish. If you want more information on choosing doll house
