A Traditional Wooden Doll
House That Will Last A Lifetime - Heirloom Doll house Kits
When I think of heirloom doll house kits I think of
a house that is grand, traditional and will last a life time.
A doll house I will pass down to my daughter and she can pass
down to her daughter.
Unfortunately many kits available today aren't of this quality
and you are lucky if they last a year, never mind a life time.
At Laura Anne Dolls Houses we only produce dolls houses that
last. They are traditional, in keeping with period style, and
will last for generations.
To give you an example lets take a look at our Beeches doll
This is the Beeches doll house. It is made completely
from wood, there are no plastic parts at all. It is a
traditional Georgian style doll house with large curved
windows and dormer windows in the roof.
Houses from the Georgian era are distinct because of
their grand architecture, large windows, ornate trim and
attention to detail. Georgian buildings tried to recreate
the style of ancient Roman buildings. Georgian style comprises
grace, understanding of decorative elements and the use
of order in a design. You can see this in our Beeches
doll house, the design is very uniform and symmetrical
with straight lines and a lot of structure to the design.
There are also many decorative elements like Quoining
around the edges of the building and above the windows
and decorative terrace and balcony.
Our houses are real representations of their era and
bring a piece of history into your home.
An heirloom that you can share with your children.
inside of our doll houses have large spacious rooms. Dolls houses
are traditionally made to 1/12th scale but many houses have
very small rooms that don't give you enough room for furniture.
In the Georgian era rooms were large and airy
and we think our dolls house rooms should be too. To the left
is the inside of the Beeches doll house, the rooms all have
good room height and as you can see they hold a lot of furniture,
just as the Georgians would want their homes.
Our doll house staircases are made from wood too
and come complete with banisters and newel posts, just as your
stairs would at home. In the Beeches house they spiral around
creating a separate landing on each level. Georgian houses always
has staircases like this so people could stop and talk if passing
on the stairs.
Tradition and Quality are the two things we value
in our doll houses. All of our doll houses are made in the UK
by mastercraftsmen and are made completely of wood. There is
one exception to this, our Rutland Grange, Kensington &
Cottesmore doll houses do have plastic windows. The reason behind
this is that windows do take a while to paint so this gives
you an easier option of having an heirloom quality house without
having to spend a good deal of time painting the windows. They
can always be replaced at a later date with wooden windows if
